​Avenue Q – Our Big Show for 2025!

We’re thrilled to finally reveal our next major production!

This bold, hilarious musical took Broadway by storm, winning three Tony Awards in 2004—including Best Musical—beating none other than Wicked.

Think of it as the quirky cousin of Sesame Street: sunny in the morning but decidedly more scandalous after dark. Not for the faint-hearted, Avenue Q hilariously tackles the ups and downs of adulthood through the eyes of puppets and humans alike.

It’s a story about real life: finding and losing a job, grappling with racism, getting evicted, finding your true self, falling in love, avoiding commitment, enduring hangovers, and discovering the (not-so-family-friendly) wonders of the Internet. In other words, it’s real life—but with puppets!

Packed with catchy tunes, outrageous humour, puppet sex (yes, really), and plenty of give and take, Avenue Q will leave you laughing, cringing, and maybe even tearing up.

Despite the use of puppets, it's not a child friendly show! Due to the cheeky content and the odd swear word, it’s recommended for ages 12 and up only. Audience members 12-18 must be accompanied by an adult. And as for granny? Well, if she’s got a wicked sense of humour, bring her along - there's a defibrillator right next door at the Fire Station!

To add to the excitement, we’ll be performing in a brand-new venue - Thame Players Theatre, in Thame! It’s a proper theatre—a first for us—and it’s going to give us the perfect stage to deliver a professional, jaw-dropping performance. We can’t wait for you to see it!

But before we get there, we’ve got some work to do! Putting on a show of this scale is no small feat, and it’s going to take a lot of resources. So, we’re rolling up our sleeves and diving into some fundraising events. Keep your eyes peeled for announcements—you won’t want to miss the fun ways you can get involved! But that’s not all! We know many of you might be itching to join us on stage, but maybe you’re not sure if you’re ready. Well, we’ve got you covered! Before the March auditions, we’ll host some fabulous workshops designed to boost your confidence and skills, covering everything from basic music theory and acting skills to singing in harmony and mastering some dance steps. Details will be coming soon on this page and on our social media, so stay tuned!

And for those of you eyeing a role in our 2025 production, auditions will be near the end of March. We don’t usually hold auditions to join the group, but for a major show, we need to make sure we’ve got the perfect cast. Don’t worry—it’s not as scary as it sounds! You’ll be asked to perform a short excerpt from the show and a brief snippet of dialogue, and we’ll email all the materials you need to practice in advance. So, as you can see, we’re buzzing with excitement behind the scenes, and we’ve got some incredible plans in the works. We know it’s been a quiet year for us due to some personal challenges, but we’re more motivated than ever to bring this spectacular show to our community.
